Avengers: Endgame (2019) Review

by Alex Goode

Firstly, I'd like to apologize for the absence of blogs recently. I've moved house, and it has absolutely swamped me, but I'm in the new place now. I still have a bit of unpacking to do, but I officially have a new home. Now that that's out of the way, I can get back to reviewing movies, and what better film to get back into it with than Avengers: Endgame? It is the twenty-second movie in the MCU, as well as the tenth (and last) chapter in Phase 3. Next up, I think, is Spider-Man: Far From Home, but, until then, we have Endgame to talk about. It was directed by the Russo Brothers, and the screenplay was written by Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely (the same people who helmed Infinity War). This movie serves as the grand finale of the Thanos conflict (which started in Iron Man and came to a haunting climax in Infinity War), which, given the title, the runtime, the trailers, and the synopsis, is probably something that a lot of people are expecting from the film. Be warned, I'm gonna be delving in to heavy spoilers with this review. I'm gonna be leaving no stone unturned with Endgame, because it's gonna be a little difficult to get my thoughts out without doing so. If you haven't seen the movie yet (unless you just don't care about it), don't read this until you do. There's a lot of plot to cover, so I'm issuing a massive spoiler alert. We're in the endgame, now.

Captain Marvel (2019) Review

by Alex Goode

Captain Marvel, released on March 8 of 2019, is the twenty-first installment in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. More specifically, it's the nineth chapter of Phase 3 of the MCU. Phase 3 is set to end in April with the release of Avengers: Endgame. This movie acts as Captain Marvel's origin story and is meant to familiarize the audience with the character before we see her fighting in the Endgame conflict. It was directed by Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck, and it was written by Geneva Robertson-Dworet along with Boden and Fleck. It stars Brie Larson in the title role, which is a casting choice that proved to be pretty divisive to say the least, but I'm not here to talk about the politics behind the film. I saw a movie, so I'm gonna talk about a movie. Simple as that. Also among the cast is Samuel L. Jackson, Jude Law, Anette Bening, Clark Gregg, and Ben Mendelsohn, among others. As Avengers: Endgame quickly approaches, how does Carol Danvers/Captain Marvel fare in her first solo bout? Let's talk about that. This is your official spoiler warning.

Once Upon a Deadpool (2018) Review

by Alex Goode

The PG-13 cut of Deadpool 2, dubbed Once Upon a Deadpool for the theatrical release, is here at last. After a set of funny/promising trailers featuring Fred Savage, I was genuinely looking forward to this movie's release, as well as a bit concerned. Going into it, I had a funny feeling that it wouldn't work. In some spots, I was right. It is still the great movie that is Deadpool 2, but it's been noticeably constrained under a stricter rating. You can't do as much in a PG-13 movie as you can in an R rated movie. It suffers from that a lot here. But it is still Deadpool 2, so it becomes kind of a mixed bag. And how well does Deadpool 2 translate into PG-13 exactly? Well, let's find out.

Venom (2018) Review

by Alex Goode

This was certainly a thing, wasn't it? Venom is a 2018 comic book movie/Sony trying their hardest to make up for Spider-Man 3. I have mixed feelings about it, as do most of the people that saw it, so I'm gonna go in depth about it and give it a proper review. Obviously, this means that several plot points are gonna be spoiled, so here's your official Spoiler Warning now if you haven't seen it yet. Skip this blog until you do, please and thank you. I usually have more to say during this opening bit, but I don't this time for some reason, so let's just get into it.

Avengers 4 Theories + Wishes

by Alex Goode

The currently untitled fourth Avengers movie is less than a year away, and there are countless fan theories surrounding it all over the internet. It is time for me to throw my hat into the mix with my own Avengers 4 theories, plus a few other things that I would personally like to see in the movie that might not actually happen because I am in no way affiliated with Marvel. Yeah, this blog will just be a longtime MCU fanboy theorizing about it's future. If you haven't seen Infinity War yet, proceed with caution, as there are major spoilers for that movie ahead. With that out of the way, let's get into it.
